Transforming communities and environments through sustainable solutions and active engagement since 2019.
A collaborative initiative focused on reducing plastic pollution along the Tanzanian shores of Lakes Victoria, Tanganyika, and Nyasa. In partnership with NORCE, EMEDO, and the University of Dar es Salaam, we led collection, sorting, and recycling efforts across multiple shoreline sites.
Significant amounts of plastic waste collected from lake shores
Thousands of community members mobilized
Multiple shoreline sites cleaned and monitored
Data collection to inform environmental policy initiatives
Phase I of the project successfully mobilized communities while removing substantial amounts of plastic waste, promoting environmental awareness and generating vital data to protect these freshwater ecosystems.
Contact Us About This ProjectOur cornerstone initiative converts collected plastic waste into eco-friendly building materials including bricks, tiles, and WPC decking. These sustainable construction materials help address the housing deficit in Tanzania while reducing environmental impact.
Substantial plastic waste transformed into building materials
Production facility expanded in 2023 with UNDP support
Materials used in various construction projects across Tanzania
Majority of production workers are women from local communities
Our eco-bricks and WPC materials are not only environmentally friendly but also durable and cost-effective alternatives to traditional construction materials, proving that sustainability and practicality can work together.
Contact Us About This ProjectAddressing both plastic pollution and sanitation challenges, we've constructed sustainable sanitation facilities in public schools using our eco-bricks. This project showcases the practical applications of our recycled building materials while improving public health and education conditions.
Multiple sanitation units constructed in public schools
Thousands of students with improved access to clean sanitation
First pilot project launched in 2020 with U.S. Embassy support
Increased school attendance, particularly among female students
Each facility is designed with community input and includes hygiene education components. The project began in Temeke District in partnership with the U.S. Embassy Tanzania and has since expanded to additional schools.
Contact Us About This ProjectOur ongoing beach and coastal clean-up campaigns combine environmental action with community engagement and education. These events serve as platforms for raising awareness about marine pollution while collecting plastic waste for recycling.
Regular beach clean-ups conducted since 2019
Significant youth engagement through sports and environmental activities
Educational workshops integrated with clean-up events
Regular monitoring of key coastal areas to track pollution levels
By combining beach clean-ups with youth sports activities, we've created an engaging approach to environmental action that fosters community involvement and long-term behavioral change. These events also provide raw materials for our recycling operations.
